Here is the latest news from the Dominican Republic!

People of the Cibao; D.R. Requests

Friday, March 14th, 2003

By Marsha Davidson

God is at work among the residents of Barrio Los Santos, touching the hearts of government

officials to work with a church-planting team in meeting the needs of this community. This month a volunteer team from Germantown, Tenn., will help put in an aqueduct to bring water to these 367 families (2,000 people).  Pray that as they experience the thrill of having clean  water, they will heed the call of the One who is the Living Water and follow Him. The volunteer team will work in this area April 22-27 doing medical and dental clinics, evangelism and discipleship as well as construction of the aqueduct and a pavilion to be used for church services. Pray for the

continued formation of the believers in this barrio and for the many who are still without a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We rejoice in the answered prayers for the church planting efforts in Cotui. Last month a volunteer team worked alongside associational church planters and discovered an openness to the gospel in several barrios around the city. Over 30 families asked for Bible studies in their homes, and 15 gave their lives to Christ.  Pray this month for J. & D. as they make follow-up visits and initiate home Bible studies. Pray for those people who prayed to receive Christ to allow their hearts to be fertile soil, that they may grow in their faith and mature as true disciples of Jesus.

"Explain to me what it is you are preaching," commented one lady in Los Arrocces, Bonao, D.R. during a recent showing of an evangelistic film. What a thrill for the church planters to have a chance to once again explain why they were visiting. For several years, they sought to share the Good News of Christ in this community but have found the people to be resistant to the message of salvation. Recently, they noticed hearts softening. During a visit by a volunteer

evangelism team, many people expressed interest in studying the Bible, and some even prayed to accept Christ. Pray for L., A. and R. as they follow up on these contacts. Pray for the discipleship of these new believers.
