Born in Waltham, Mass., on Oct. 9, 1963, Marsha Davidson grew up in New England.
When she was 12, Marsha attended Vacation Bible School, where three people shared their missions experiences with the group. It was then that she realized her own need for Jesus as her personal Savior.
"Their stories made a tremendous impact on me. I was inspired by their commitment and sacrifice. I also was impressed with the significance of what they did: touching people's lives with God's love."
Marsha asked Jesus to come into her heart, to forgive her of her sin and to be her Lord. She was baptized at Christmas. Soon afterward, Marsha began to feel God calling her to global missions. But with junior and senior high school still ahead of her, Marsha began to pull away from that sense of calling. But God revived her call while she was studying for a year in England during college. "That experience of living and studying in another country was the highlight of my life. It was during that experience that the call to missions and ministry was rekindled." Marsha began her missions journey by attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. She graduated in 1989 with a master of divinity degree. While remaining focused on missions during seminary, Marsha served as a nursing home chaplain, minister to children and summer youth minister. Marsha was called to serve Mill Creek Baptist Church in Fincastle, Va., immediately after graduation.
"Our church is a mission-minded congregation. I had the opportunity to go to Mexico City for a week-long project that involved discipleship training and leadership development. In all of my mission involvement, I have continued to feel a call and a pull toward international missions." For the past five years, Marsha has been working with the people of the Dominican Republic. She serves alongside Dominican leaders, training and preparing other nationals through The Macedonia Project.
